PomPom greeting card DIY

Today we are making DIY Mother’s Day Cards with pom poms!
You could make them in a couple of mins literally. All fathers can make them with their kids. They are so cute I tell ya! I’m gonna mail one to my mom.

What you need: A set of blank cards ( available at any craft store ), sharpie pens, pom-poms ( mine are from hobby lobby), tape and some craft glue.

The last one with the fireflies is one of my favs. I thought you could write something like ” you fill my world with so much light”- love you MOM. And of course going with the current internet obsession, I had to go with flamingos. 

Napkin Flower DIY

A romantic dinner can never be perfect without flowers. Let's be creative this time and add to your table some cute DIY napkin flowers. Let them wrap around your glasses as pretty votive decorations. Perfect for that outdoor dinner you’ve been planning! Adjust the size of the wire circle and they easily become napkin rings as well.

Materials needed: 

Flower cupcake baking cups, scissors, hot glue gun, green crepe paper, floral tape, floral wire, glass votives.

Step 1: Cut enough wire to wrap around the glass votive holder. Join the ends together and twist closed.
Step 2: Cut several 1” – 2” leaves out of crèpe paper, leaving enough stem to be able to attach to the wire.
Step 3: Wrap the wire with floral tape, adding a few leaves every inch or so.
Step 4: Fold a flower cupcake liner in half, then in half again. Pinch the folded end together.
Step 5: Attach the “flower” to the wire, and hot glue it in place. Step 6: Repeat steps 4-5 until you have 4 or 5 flowers on the ring. Place the ring over the votive, and gently adjust the flowers and leaves if needed.

Glitter Ice Cubes DIY

For all our glitter loving gals out there – this sparkly idea is just for you. The next time you need to chill some wine, you’ll absolutely have to make these glitter ice cubes for the ice bucket! Not edible and an absolute mess, but for those who love glitter like I do, it’s all so worth it. Wine is always a good idea, but wine chilled with glitter ice cubes is for the most extra of hostesses. Perfect for wedding bridal showers or bachelorette parties!

SUPPLIES:

• Clear Ice Bucket
• Distilled Water
• Chunky Glitter (don’t use fine!)
• Ice Cube Trays

GLITTER + WATER

 Add your choice of chunky glitter into each ice cube tray, then fill with water about 1/4″ below the top. When water freezes it expands, so don’t overfill!

 CRAFTERS TIP: Using distilled water will help you get an ice cube that is much more clear than water from the tap!

FREEZE 

Let the cubes freeze! I have a bottom loading freezer so I cleared the bottom rack and you can see that four trays fit. You can stack the trays if you need to. 

STORAGE 

These are a mess. A gorgeous, glittery mess. So crack them out of the ice cube trays and store them in freezer bags until your event!

Party Pom pom Decoration DIY

This party decor doubles as party favors. I love that you can use these for a centerpiece but guests can take them home as a toy or to march around in a celebratory parade. (Kids are obsessed with them!) They are very simple and inexpensive to make you’re just going to get real cozy with your exacto knife to make lots of fringe for a special birthday party. See the full instructions below!

Materials Needed: Pack of tissue paper with 10 sheets in each color (we chose peach, bright turquoise, kelly green, limon, buttercup, and pink from the party shop), x-acto knife, ruler, tape, dowels, green acrylic paint, paint brush, painter’s tape, green crepe paper (we used limelight and emerald isle), scissors, hot glue

Step 1: Stack 10 sheets of tissue paper and cut into eight 7-1/2″ x 10” rectangle stacks. With a standard 20” x 30” tissue pack, you can get this size by flattening the pack and cutting it in half, crosswise, three times.

Step 2: Cut long, 1/2″ wide fringe from tissue stack, leaving a two inch margin on the top.

Step 3: Roll the fringe into tassels and tape to secure.

Step 4: Shake the tassels to separate all the strands. Crinkle the tassels to get more body. And then shake again!

Step 5: Paint the dowels. Let dry completely.

Step 6: Once dry, tape the bound end of the tassels to one end of the dowel. With eight tassels attached, you should have one BIG pom when you’re done!

Step 7: Cut two to three leaves from green crepe paper. Fold to make a crease in the center.

Step 8: Hot glue the leaves to the stem — and you’re all done!

Barefoot Sandals at your Beach Wedding

Spinning Greeting Cards- Father's Day DIY Greeting Card Tutorial

Make this Father's Day special by letting your kids making their own spinning card as a present. Add a cute selfie photo that twirls on a string. Your kids can pick their favorite snapshots of themselves and glue them back to back, or decorate both sides however they like. Then all that's left to do is write a special message to their loving Daddy.

 

MATERIALS

• Bone folder

• Colorful paper

• Scissors

• Ruler

• Glue

• Photo

• String

STEPS

1. Cut out a sheet of colorful paper with a width that's divisible by three; ours is 12 inches (the height is 7). Use a ruler to divide width into three equal parts; fold the paper at those points. Unfold. Fold left flap over the middle (these panels will be card's front), then fold both in half (use a bone folder, if you like). Draw a half circle (or half square) over outer fold; cut out, cutting through all layers, just outside the line.
2. Trim cutouts. Lay one on the photo; trace. Cut out photo; glue onto cutout.
3. Glue string between photo and the other cutout (or another photo). Place string in the fold of middle flap, positioning photo in the hole; glue left flap to the middle, trapping string inside. Trim string.

DIY donut piñata- Party idea

Summer is here and throwing birthday party or summer party will be more fun with this little craft. Learn how to make an adorable DIY donut piñata (complete with sprinkles!) as the perfect game for your next party. Hang it up for your guests to admire before using it for batting practice. 

Materials: 

• Tissue paper
• Crepe paper (in a different color from your tissue paper)
• Large pearl sprinkles
• Cardboard
• Craft paper
• String
• School glue
• Hot glue gun and glue
• Pen
• Tape
• X-Acto knife
• Scissors
• Cutting mat

Instructions:

Step 1: Start by tracing a large, everyday circular object on a piece of cardboard. We used a lamp shade. Trace a second one so your donut has a front and back side. Grab a smaller circular object (a bowl, for example) and trace it in the middle of your larger circle — this will be the donut hole. Cut it out with an X-Acto knife, then place the larger circle (now donut-shaped) on top of the other circle. Trace the inner circle and cut it out of both larger circles. This will ensure that your donut holes match up. You should now have two identical cardboard donuts.

Step 2: Next we’ll create the sides using craft paper. You can also do this with cardboard, but craft paper is easier to work with when creating rounded sides. Measure your donut hole by placing the craft paper inside. Cut the paper to size and then tape it into a column that fits the donut hole. Stick this column into the hole, then snip 1-inch sections about two inches apart all the way around the top edge of the column. Fold the sections down onto the cardboard and tape them down.

Step 3: Follow the same process to create the outer edge of the donut. This time, cut your 1-inch sections before you tape the craft paper into a column. Wrap it around the cardboard donut, fold down your 1-inch sections and tape them in place. Flip your donut over and trim the top edge of the outer column of craft paper so that it is level with the center column.

Step 4: Before we add the other side of the donut, we need to cut a trap door in the side of the donut by making three slices with your X-Acto knife. This is where you will add treats, so make sure it’s big enough for your candy to fit inside! Fold the door back to open it.

Next cut a long piece of string or rope. Poke a hole in the outer column of craft paper and then in the inner column as well. Thread your string through both holes, then tie a few knots at the bottom to secure it. Cut 1-inch sections on the outer and inner columns of craft paper. Then place the back side of the donut on top, filing the center column through the hole and ensuring the 1-inch sections on the outer column are not folded under the cardboard. Fold the sections over the back side and tape them in place.

You’re halfway there! Time for some color, wouldn’t you say?

Step 5: Cut fringe out of your tissue paper. This part will serve as the base of the donut (the dough in donut), so keep that in mind when choosing a color. Layer your tissue paper and cut long strips, then make small snips on one edge to create fringe. You’re going to need a ton, so make yourself a nice big pile. To adhere your fringe, squeeze a thin line of school glue along the top edge.

Step 6: Starting from the outer edge of the donut, layer each section of fringe on top of the next, allowing the bottom edge of fringe to show. Once you’ve worked your way around the donut, glue longer pieces of tissue paper on the back side of the donut and wrap them into the hole to cover the back and middle sections. No need to cover the front; you’ll be adding frosting and sprinkles, so it doesn’t need fringe. Don’t forget to keep the trap door open! Add your fringe around the door so you can actually stuff this little guy.

Step 7: Last part! For the frosting, place your crepe paper on top of the donut and cut out a circle. It doesn’t have to be perfect — it’s frosting, after all! Adhere it to the donut with hot glue, then add sprinkles to the top. If you don’t want to add real sprinkles, cut some jimmies out of paper.

Filling this donut with real donuts might make a giant mess, but we think it would be adorable to put donut holes in clear goody bags and stuff those inside.
